Rourkela: -
Rourkela now known as Smart City is a planned city located in
the northern district Sundargarh of Odisha, India. It is the third-largest
Urban Agglomeration in Odisha after Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. It is situated
about 328 kilometres west of state capital Bhubaneswar and is surrounded by a
range of hills and encircled by the rivers Koel, Sankha, & Brahmani. The
city is also popularly known as Ispat Nagar and Steel City of Odisha as well.
One of the largest integrated steel plants set up with German collaboration
Known as Rourkela Steel Plant, of Steel Authority of India Limited. It also has
one of the premier national level technical institute known as National
Institutes of Technology. Every year, on 3 March Rourkela Day has been
celebrated.

Hanuman
Vatika: -
It is situated adjacent to Rourkela General Hospital, beside the
Rourkela ring road in Civil township, Rourkela-4 approximately at a distance of
6 km from Rourkela railway station, towards southwest direction.

Other temples inside the premises are 12 Jyotirlingas,
Batta Mangala Devi, Sarala Devi Temple, Jagannath Temple, Lakshmi,
and Santoshi Mata
Temple. One Kalyan Mandap is built to accommodate public gatherings and
functions. The Hanuman statue was built by Sri Lakshman Swami of Hyderabad. The
newly established Sai Baba temple has become the favorite of the devotees, the
idol of which is very similar to the idol of the one situated in Shirdi Sai Baba.Hanuman Vatika named after one of the
highest statue of Hanuman. Inaugurated in the year 1994 by the then Chief
Minister of Orissa, Biju Patnaik. Here a statue of Hanuman is constructed with
the height of 75 feet. There are also a number of temples named as Bata
Managla, Binayak, Vaishnodevi, Sarala, Dwadash Linga, Siva, Santoshi Maa, Maa
Laxmi etc. constructed here for the devotees. Because of beauty scenario and
green area, number of general visitors came to this place every day here.
Hanuman Vatika Trust Board manages this place within a sprawling
campus of area surrounding of 13 acres. A kalyan mandap is also here for
various social functions like Marriage, Bratostaba & Ekoishia etc.
Mandira Dam: - is located near Kansbahal in Sundergarh district, Odisha, India. It is built across Sankh river, located 16 km upstream from Mandira. The water from the dam is used for Rourkela Steel Plant. Construction of the dam began after 1957. The dam displaced 2400 families and only 843 were resettled.
The reservoir offers boating facilities for
tourists and the nearest railway station is located in Kansbahal on the
Howrah-Mumbai main line of Southeastern Railway. Rourkela is the closest
junction station. The dam can be reached from Kansbahal and Rourkela by two-wheeler,
private cars, taxis, auto rickshaws and irregular bus service.
Pitamahal Dam:

Pitamahal dam is a popular picnic spot in Sundargarh District. It is located about 22 km distance from Rourkela and 12 km from Vedvyas Temple. The dam was constructed in 1978 across river Pitamahal, a stream of river Sankha which meets river Koel upstream of Panposh to form river Brahmani.
Pitamahal Dam area best places for a photoshoot in Rourkela. Pitamahal Resevoir is also a beautiful picnic spot near Rourkela. The Khandadhar Falls is
located at Nandapani in Sundergarh district in the Indian state of Orissa. It is the 12th
highest waterfall in India. The Khandadhar Falls is 104 kilometres (65 mi) from Rourkela via Bonaigarh, and 60 kilometres (37 mi) from
Kendujhar. It is a perennial horse tail type waterfall. The Korapani Nala, a
small stream, plunges from a height of 244 metres (801 ft) in a single
drop.

Vedvyas: -
Ved Vyas ' a mythological place situated in outskirts of Rourkela city. It is said that Sage Ved Vyas jee had written tahe epic ' Mahabharata ' at this place. A small cave is the center point, where Sage Ved Vyas jee was living. This place is on the banks of river Brahmani. Many other small temples are built around the Cave. A must-see place for any tourist coming to Rourkela. The place contains many temples around dedicated to different gods. Shivratri mela is the largest festival celebrated at Vedavyas. The best thing about the place is that near the riverbank is situated a Sankirtan mandap, where sankirtan is going on for the past 13 years.
A visit to the divine temple is not merely a delightful
picnic but rather an insight into the rich cultural heritage that the middle eastern country of India has got. Shivratri Mela is the biggest festival
that is celebrated in the temple with all the grand preparations. The locals
near the Vedvyas temple cherish the mela with all their heart and soul.
The temperature here ranges somewhere between 25°C to
41°C in summers and between 12°C to 28°C in winters. So, the temperature here
is not that big an issue as it is quite ideal for those who are not the locals
here. One of the most fascinating aspects of the Vedvyas Temple is the ancient
Shiva Lingam which is basically worshipped by the Hindus. The Shiva Lingam is
made of very precious and valuable Blackstone, which in today's date is very
expensive.

for them, the Vedvyas Temple is literally an instrument of profound
enlightenment.
Rourkela Steel Plant: -
The Rourkela steel plant in Odisha’s first integrated steel plant in the public sector was founded in 1955. In 1960, the plant was constituted with a capacity of 1 million tonnes with German collaboration.
With time, this capacity gets enhanced to 2 million tonnes of hot metals, 1.6 million tonnes of saleable steel, and 1.9 million tonnes of crude steel. Today it is considered as one of the largest of their kind in India.

Gandhi Park: -
The park is located around 3 km from Rourkela bus stand. This Park is sprawling over a large 42 acres of land, this park beaded with houses grass meadows, gardens, a small zoo, aquarium, lake, and a doll museum.
The garden includes different varieties of floral species along with lawns and a musical fountain. The zoo consists of different kind of birds, Deer, black beer, peacock, and crocodile and some animals. This small yet beautifully planned zoo doesn’t stop here to attract kids, it also has a toy train for the small ones which gives children a fascinating tour of the entire zoo. A life-size statue of Indira Gandhi is also installed in the park which one of the major highlights of this place.
Vaishno Devi Temple: -
Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is situated at a distance of 3 km from the Rourkela bus stand. Vaishno Devi Temple was established in 2000 on the Durgapur hill in Rourkela.
The place is surrounded by dense green forests and scenic nature. There is also a Bhairavnath Temple situated in the near vicinity of the temple. Tourists and visitors have to climb around 600 stairs to reach this sacred site in Rourkela. Navaratri festival is one of the grand festivals in the Mata Vaishno Devi temple. Many devotees from Ranchi, Jharkhand and Sundargarh districts come to observe the festival. Mata Vaishno mandir is a famous temple near Rourkela town.

The Jagannath Temple is situated at Ahirabandh in sector 3, Rourkela. This Jagannath Mandir is one of the most famous Hindu temples in Rourkela.
Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra are also the presiding deities of this renowned temple. The design of this place is made similar to the Puri Jagarnath Temple, which was constructed during the year 1975. The height of the temple is about 90 meters. The main festival is Rath Yatra, Apart from this, 13 festivals are celebrated in this temple with great fanfare throughout the year. Ambagan, also known as Ispat Super Market, is a local market business place located in sector 19 of Rourkela.
The place is famous for its various local shops settled around the area with shops ranging from commodities to vegetable markets. Nearby lies Ispat food court where local street food vendor shops are available.

Huge mall as compared to the city and on a good location. Couple of branded outlets like Pantaloons, Trends, Reliance digital, Allen Solly etc have opened. KFC here happens to be the icing on the cake for the people over here. Good hygiene and masking protocols followed here. Outlets do not allow to enter without mask. Once the mall operates at full capacity it would attract more people to it. Huge reliance smart store where you can all grocery and stationary products.
Best thing about Forum Galleria is their FREE
basement parking! That’s a lovely gesture by them and a great idea to attract
people as well
Its ok but it still needs lots of
improvements. Underground parking is spacious and free. It’s really a nice
place to hang out to be honest but it really needs to complete its construction
and shops inside. There are few brands that are open but unfortunately there
is nothing available for plus size. Even though some brands that are open have plus
size clothes but it’s not available here it was really disappointing to be
honest. But staffs were really nice and helpful which was really appreciable.
Ispat Stadium: -
Ispat Stadium is a cricket stadium located in Rourkela, Odisha. The ground is mainly used for organizing matches of football, cricket and other sports.
The stadium has hosted three Ranji Trophy matches in 1972 when Odisha cricket team played against Bihar cricket team. The stadium also hosted three List A matches from 1990 to 1993 as well as a Youth One Day International in 1990 when India Under-19 cricket team played Pakistan Under-19 cricket team. Up to January 2016 it was again ready to host national and list A matches and it is well maintained stadium.
Ispat Stadium was built by SAIL in the year of 1969, which has
lush green grass field and played all major sports activities. Stadium is well
maintained by SAIL-RSP, different national and district level sports are
conducting here like cricket, football, basketball court and athletic work.
Hockey stadium: -
Heading into the men’s 2023 Hockey World Cup to be hosted in Odisha,
India is all set to get a grand new hockey stadium.
Odisha chief minister (CM) Naveen Patnaik, on Thursday,
announced a brand-new hockey stadium - the largest in the country - in the
steel city of Rourkela.
With a seating capacity of 20,000, the stadium with all the modern amenities imaginable will be built on 15 acres of land at the Biju Patnaik University of Technology campus in the Steel City of Odisha.
The Rourkela
stadium will also act as the second venue for the 2023
Hockey World Cup alongside the Kalinga Stadium in the state capital of
Bhubaneswar.
“Odisha will once again be the proud host of the prestigious
Men's Hockey World Cup in 2023. The tournament will be organised both in
Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
Recently a high-level team,
including senior officials from the Odisha government, International Federation
of Hockey (FIH), Department of Sports and Youth Services and Hockey India (HI)
visited Rourkela to review if the infrastructure and allied facilities in the
city were adequate to host the World Cup in 2023.
Rourkela is situated in the Sundargarh district of Odisha, which

Locational advantage of this place was not capitalized enough though doing a great business by the end of the day...the quality of food, hygiene and employees’ behaviour certainly a matter of concern for people who are really concerned about eating out as a different experience.

Mayfair Set on leafy grounds, this colourful, informal hotel is 2 km from both Hanuman Vatika Garden and monument, and Panposh train station, and 11 km from Jagannath Temple. The rooms and overall property seemed to be clean and sanitized with good ambience.
This property has the best layout with balanced greenery and elegance. Not to forget it has one of best restaurants in Rourkela. It is located in the civil town area, panposh road, in the Indian state of Odisha. Food is excellent. The snack centre, super snacks serve best sweet quality, authentic south Indian and delicious north Indian. Restaurant too, serves tasty dinning. It has one of the finest infrastructures among the colleges in India. 1200 acres (approx)isn’t a small place!!!! to add feathers to it the hostel timings are completely flexible (except for first years for a few months) So you can hang out late nights and even go for nightouts!!!bikes have legally allowed her so most of them use cycles and the green environment is worth cherishable. you will learn to live a independent life here! joy will be immense but with immense joy you will get some inevitable responsibilities too. So, it’s your duty to make sure you attend to all of them!!! saturday and sunday is an off so friday nights are meant for party!!!you will make a great company pf friend and at the same time will get enough time to introspect and retrospect yourself(exams).
there are around 60 clubs each with a different motto and objective!!!!so you will find clubs that match your interests like dancing debating,Social service e.t.c get inducted and be a part of it!!! they are going to be an essential part of your daily routine here

these were the pros of being at nitrkl .now coming to the darker (actually brighter) side you need to maintain your CG. it’s important at the end of the day!there will be 6000 students with you at the campus and you need to compete with them!!! It’s not that easy!!but It’s fun!!1 so you will enjoy the chapter of NITRKL in your life like never before!!!
